Should I transfer to a community college after already finishing freshman year at a university? - university of santa monica

I'm going to Cal State Dominguez Hills and finished my first year, but wanted to transfer to better schools. I wonder whether it would be wise to my second year at Santa Monica Community College have received a better opportunity to transfer to another university. I've heard it's easier to transfer from community college to a university than it is to transfer from one institution to another.
